Birrarung Walk with Koorie Heritage Trust

Fallback

We celebrated NAIDOC Week with a morning walk along the Birrarung led by Jake from the Koorie Heritage Trust.

Along the way, he shared the cultural significance of the sites that shape this city’s story — stories of resilience, identity, and belonging.

Some hard, many hopeful, and all delivered with humour and depth.

From Federation Square to the river’s edge, we saw the city through a different lens, leaving with a new appreciation for 'the river of mist and shadows'.

After an insightful session on cultural tools and storytelling back at KHT, we ended the day with lunch at Riverland and a look through the windows at the Vaults — our former home. We're grateful to Koorie Heritage Trust for this cultural exchange and learning.

This year’s NAIDOC theme, The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy, speaks to what we witnessed: the strength of truth telling, the vision carried by community, and the legacy we’re all part of shaping.
