Six Degrees’ 3rd project for Deaking University was to create an active and engaging central precinct for the Waurn Ponds Campus, that would de-institutionalise the area and bring it to life with activity at all hours. A case where experience in hospitality informed the approach to University design. Spaces occupied in multiple ways, a vibrant, social environment where students can engage, interact or seek solitude, where the scale is comfortable. Various hospitality outlets and a central landscaped area at the heart of the revitalised precinct.

‘When it comes to activation, Six Degrees has certainly proved itself. After all, this is the practice that helped turn Melbourne’s laneways into hospitality ‘destinations’. Waurn Ponds Central Campus Precinct, both inside and out, carries many of the traits of those bar and café designs.’ Architectural Review
